Simon and Susanna’s Love for South Africa

"Our stays have created incredible memories… If you haven't been to South Africa and Steenberg, then you should put it on your list as a priority."

For members Simon and Susanna, Villa Steenberg has become more than just a holiday destination-it's a place they've fallen in love with. Having visited twice in the last 15 months, they shared their reflections on what makes this corner of South Africa so special.

"Situated just 15 minutes from the wonderful city of Cape Town, it provides an incredible base to explore the local area," they told us. And explore they did-from iconic sights like Table Mountain and Robben Island, to the Garden Route's famous vineyards, world-class golf, and even safaris in Kruger National Park.

"There are so many highlights, it's hard to know where to start… fabulous hospitality, endless sunshine… South Africa has become one of our favourite places in the world to visit."

At the centre of their experience was their stay at The Hideaways Club residence on Steenberg Wine Estate.

"Everything starts at The Hideaways Club property in Steenberg," they said. "Located on an exclusive golf course with some of the Cape's finest wines on site, along with high-class restaurants and wellness facilities, it is possible to never leave…"

That said, their time in South Africa was rich with adventure and connection to the land and its people. And while the property offers every comfort, it was the service that truly stood out.

"The star of the show is Carol, for whom nothing is too much trouble," they shared. "Washing, ironing, cleaning six days per week, sorting out any WiFi issues… to name just a few."

The couple also praised Nikki, their local concierge, for going the extra mile:

"Nikki is on hand to help with requests such as golf and restaurant bookings, and is there to make sure your stay runs smoothly."

The property itself quickly began to feel like home. With a private heated swimming pool, modern conveniences, and plenty of room to relax, it offered the perfect retreat after a day of exploring.

"Although only three bedrooms, there is talk of adding a fourth which, in our opinion, would only enhance the property and enable two families to stay together."

Naturally, some guests may have questions around security when travelling to South Africa. Simon and Susanna were reassured by the estate's strict standards:

"The estate is gated and there are very strict entry requirements that have to be satisfied to get onto the grounds," they explained. "It's always best to use authorised transport services, all of which can be arranged by your Personal Concierge."

In every way, Villa Steenberg and the surrounding region exceeded expectations.

"It's a simply stunning country, with wonderful people and so many brilliant things to do and see."
