Maria Moro, Head of Personal Concierge Services

When Maria joined The Hideaways Club in 2014, she brought a wealth of energy and hospitality experience to the team, and a relentless dedication to providing the best personal service to Members.

A decade later, she heads up the Concierge team; the beating heart of the Club's operation.

Here we get to know Maria a little better, from what she does 'day-to-day' for Members, to why she finds her role so fulfilling.

Tell us about a normal day as Head of Personal Concierge Services at The Hideaways Club?

Firstly, it is very busy! I take care of the Mailbox, ensuring all Members' emails (and calls) are handled; from new bookings and cancellations, to partner enquiries and bespoke requests. The concierge team is here to assist with pre-booking airport transfers, local restaurants, spa treatments, ski lessons, excursions, and so much more. This could include everything from booking a table at a Michelin Star restaurant in Paris, to a Thai cookery class in Phuket. Members often have distinct preferences on how they like to enjoy their time away, so the team will create unique trip itineraries for them and their families and help bring them to fruition.

A large proportion of the day is dedicated to working with reciprocal partners to ensure bookings, both inbound and outbound, are monitored efficiently. Our carefully-selected collaborations with third-parties such as Exclusive Resorts means Members can share their unused capacity in return for new destinations. This works well as the US and Asia often have different holiday periods, meaning we can secure exceptional properties year-round.

We have a midweek meeting where we discuss the arrivals for the next fortnight; this is vital in ensuring nothing is missed; our meticulous attention to detail ensures Members have a truly special stay at their Club home.

What is your favourite Club destination and why?

I love so many of the properties from both the Classic and City portfolios, but if I had to choose one, I would go for Villa Livka. The villa and destination is superb; I have visited it twice, the most recent stay being in 2019. The property itself is modern and the views from the master bedroom are sublime. We did several excursions to neighbouring islands, rented a boat, and explore Brac island itself. Every single town was charming! We also hired a car and crossed, via ferry, to Split. From there we visited many beautiful spots, including national parks. I'd highly recommend island-hopping if Members have the time to do so. The locals were welcoming and the food was delicious; I am from Spain where olive oil is known for its superior quality but, believe me, the olive oil in Brac is something different!

What do you think is the most unique thing about The Hideaways Club?

For me, it will always be the relationships you build with Members over the years. You get to know them personally, and I have been lucky enough to meet many of them in person at Member events in the past. I think this is one of the key uniquities of The Hideaways Club; the team has a close connection with Members, as opposed to a more standard 'provider/customer' dynamic. This helps give us an in-depth understanding of Members' personal preferences, meaning we have everything in hand; and importantly, their holidays are seamless and stress-free.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

I start most days with an early morning gym session, I love to spend time with my family and friends. Visiting the theatre, going to concerts, and exploring new places is one of my favourite things to do; city breaks where you walk for hours and hours!
