Florence: Luxury travel peppered with art, culture and fine foods
If you are heading off on a
luxury trip to Florence, a city steeped in history and culture,
then it would be a shame not to take advantage of some of the art
and theatre events available.
Visitors can take the chance to mix these options with food and
wine to make for a relaxing and tantalising break.
Lovers of the arts are well catered for in the Italian city, and
there are a range of must see attractions that will complement a
quiet city holiday.
One of these is the Opera at St Mark's Anglican Church, a very
unique way to enjoy the theatrical style. Visitors are treated to a
tenor and soprano performing a wide range of Italian love songs.
All of this is set in a beautiful 18th century construction.
Art lovers visiting the city for the first time will also not want
to pass up the chance to visit Michelangelo's masterpiece, the
statue of biblical Florentine hero David, sculpted in the early
16th century.
Set in the Accademia di Belle Arti, the statue is an iconic image
when thinking of Italian art. Other attractions of this nature in
the city can include the likes of the Galleria degli Uffizi, where
works by Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli, Raphael, and Titian are on
display.
And no trip to Italy would be complete without the chance to sample
some of the best wine and foods around in top restaurants.
The city is home to only one eatery with three Michelin Stars -
Enoteca Pinchiorri. Chefs Annie FĂ©olde, Italo Bassi and Riccardo
Monco provide some of the best Italian cuisine around, and the high
price tag will attest to the quality that is on offer. However, it
is not just the food that will dazzle, as the restaurant is well
known for its wine tasting events.
Other fine dining establishments in the city to enjoy the perfect
candlelit meal to top off a luxury break will include the likes of
the Marco Stabile led Ora d'Aria and the highly-recommended pasta
specialists at La Tenda Rosa.
