The itinerary at a glance

Day one

On arrival at Maun Airport in Botswana, you will be greeted and assisted to your shared charter flight to the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. Here, you will be introduced to your guide and taken out for your first wildlife experience. You will return to Camp Kalahari for sundown.

Day two

The wildlife adventure continues, with guided morning and afternoon activities. Meeting the meerkats is highly recommended!

Day three

Following your last animal encounter, you will be dropped off at the airstrip for your onward flight to Khwai and the Okavango Delta. On landing, you will be met by your new guide and driven to Sable Alley, your base for the next three nights.

Day four

Explore the private Khwai Concession with your guide, and choose from game viewing by land, foot or boat.

Day five

After a final adventure, you will depart for the Linyanti. Here you will be transferred to Linyanti Bush Camp by Helicopter Horizons.

Day six - eight

Explore this magical area; you will be in another private concession so there will be few other vehicles.

Day nine

As you say so long to your final safari, you will be either driven or flown by helicopter to Maun Airport, before heading to Cape Town for your international flight home.

The Makgadikgadi Salt Pans

A place like no other on earth; these salt pans are all that remain of a great lake which once covered northern Botswana, fed by rivers carrying salts. Its two most iconic pans, Ntwetwe and Sua Pan, provide vistas of blinding white salt flats reaching far into the horizon. While no vegetation grows on its salty surface, grassland fringes the pans; interestingly, no animals roam here, with the exception of a few desert species and the elusive striped hyenas who live nearby, so the landscape is beguiling; almost transcending perspective and time.

The Okavango Delta and The Private Khwai Concession

An immense, waterlogged oasis alive with Big Five, birdlife and wetland antelope, adrift in the middle of Kalahari sands, the Okavango Delta is one of Africa's great game preserves. The pulsing nature of the wetland leads to strikingly different landscapes with both permanent and seasonal delta environments. During the winter, when the desert is its driest, water fills the Okavango, transforming the floodplains into a Noah's Ark of wildlife.
