Postira: A Charming Fishing Village on Brač
Brac's Historic Fishing Hub
Postira is the main base for the sardine fishing fleet that work from the island of Brac. Its harbour is lined with charming 300 year old stone cottages and, although steeped in history, is still a fully working fishing village. You can reach Postira by driving for around ten minutes along the northern coastal road from Splitska and once there, you are sure to be charmed by this picturesque little town. There is a rather modern hotel here, called the Pastura Hotel, which is a great place to go for evening dinner or just cocktails. Travelling a further 3km on from Postira, you will come across Lovrecina Bay, which is the only sandy beach on the island. You will have to get there early, as finding a parking space can be tricky, but it is worth it when you see the natural springs spilling fresh water straight into the sea. There is a café on the beach, where you can pick up refreshments, and the access to the beach is down a narrow track, which is suitable for cars.
