Blaca Monastery: Historic Marvel Carved into Stone
A Hidden Gem in Brač's Rugged Terrain
The Blaca Monastery is a very interesting day out for those keen on local history. No longer inhabited, this monastery was carved into the surrounding rock by the monks many years ago. For the more active, it can be reached by foot, which involves a 45 minute walk downhill (remember you will then have a 45 minute walk uphill on your return!). Alternatively, in the summer days you can visit the monastery via a boat excursion which leaves from the town of Bol and sails along the coast to where the ascent is made first, followed by the descent, making it somewhat easier to achieve.
