Bol is the area best suited to windsurfers and Kite Surfers. Here, the maestral wind creates near-perfect conditions throughout the peak season. Bol has been the favoured destination for windsurf enthusiasts since the 1970s and the gentle south-eastern levanter wind, which blows in the mornings, is ideal for the beginner. In the afternoons, the maestral wind blows from the south-west, and becomes very strong, which is when only advanced windsurfers venture out. This is often a spectacular sight and one to sit on the beach and watch. Windsurfing is sometimes possible at Sutivan in the afternoons, depending on the wind conditions.
