Valldemossa: History and Scenic Beauty
Explore Charming Streets and Local Delicacies
Valldemossa lies 15km north of Palma, slightly inland from the rugged north west coast of Mallorca. It's a pretty town surrounded by mountains. The hillside monastery was the home of the composer Frederic Chopin and his lover George Sand during the winter of 1838-39. You can have lunch in the beautiful boutique Es Moli' Hotel which offers 2 restaurants and 3 bars with amazing views of Sierra de Tramuntana, the valleys and the Mediterranean Sea. Wander aimlessly through the cobbled streets of Valdemossa, often decorated with flowerpots and try Coca de patata a localy delicacy - light spongy pastry made of flour, sugar and potato. Ideally it is eaten with hot chocolate or almond milk.
