The home of the famous artificial pearls, renowned for the manifacture of the high quality wooden furniture. In its historic centre there is a host of good restaurants as well as large shopping area. The municipality has over a hundred archeological sites, and perhaps the most outstanding is the paleo-Christian basilica of Son Pereto'. The town's great equine and equestrian tradition can be experienced at the municipal racetrack "Hipodromo" where exciting trotting races are held.
