Explore the Iconic Iron Tower
The Petřín Lookout Tower (Petřínská rozhledna) is a striking landmark situated on Petřín Hill in Prague, offering one of the city's most spectacular panoramic views. Constructed in 1891 for the Jubilee Exhibition, this 60-metre-tall tower is inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, although it is a scaled-down version.
The tower's design reflects the iron lattice construction popular in the late 19th century, giving it a distinctive and elegant appearance. Visitors can reach the tower via a funicular railway that ascends the hill or by a pleasant walk through the surrounding gardens.
The observation deck at the top provides breathtaking vistas of Prague, including landmarks such as Prague Castle, the Vltava River, and the city's historic architecture. On clear days, the view extends far beyond the city, offering a beautiful landscape of the Bohemian countryside.
In addition to its viewing platform, the Petřín Lookout Tower is part of a larger recreational area on Petřín Hill, which includes beautifully landscaped gardens, a rose garden, and a mirror maze. The hill itself is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, providing a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The Petřín Lookout Tower is not only a major tourist attraction but also a symbol of Prague's architectural and cultural heritage, representing the city's embrace of modernity at the turn of the 20th century.
