Casela Park: A Wildlife Adventure in Mauritius

Explore Exotic Animals and Lush Open Spaces

A great day out. Casela is a park which covers an area of 14 hectares and is located in the west of the island, in the district of Black River. Originally, it was created as a bird park, with over 150 different species of bird. Nowadays, it is home to a whole variety of animals, including tigers, lemurs, kangaroos, ostriches, giant tortoises and Mauritian Macaques. The whole ethos of Casela is more about open spaces and interaction between humans, animals and nature, rather than a zoo. There are also some beautiful exotic plants and indigenous flora and fauna to admire in the park, including eucalyptus and pink pepper trees.
