Tabanan: Bali’s Diverse Landscape and Heritage
A Blend of Nature and Sacred Sites
Tabanan regency offers a dramatic mix of terrain, spreading from the rugged west coastline, to the cool mountain air around Bedugul and Lake Bratan, both offering a tranquil retreat from the heat and bustle of the popular coastal areas. In particular, this region boasts the very popular tourist site, 'Tanah Lot', a 15th century temple built above the sea. This can only be seen when the tide is low, as the outcrop becomes completely surrounded by water at high tide. As this is one of Bali's most sacred temples, so tourists are not allowed to climb up, but it is certainly still worth a look. Whilst you're here make sure to visit the fruit and vegetable markets of Bedugul, the Taman Ray Botanical Gardens, and the Bali Hanadara Golf Course - arguably Southeast Asia's finest.
