Wat Chalong: Historical Temple and Symbol of Resilience

Cultural Landmark and Symbol of Phuket's Past

Full of history and legend, Wat Chalong played a pivotal role in the conflict between Chinese secret societies ('Angyee') in 1876 during the administration of King Rama V. No admission fee is charged but the temple would appreciate a donation of 10 baht towards maintenance and restoration costs. Wat Chalong is about 8 km just outside Phuket town. Follow Vichit Songkram Road to the bypass road and turn left. Drive for about 10 minutes and you will see Wat Chalong on your left.
