Betty’s Bay: Beaches, Penguins, and Botanical Wonders
Explore Sandy Beaches and Penguin Colonies
Betty's Bay offers perfect sandy beaches, tranquil lagoons and quiet fynbos trails to the Stony Point African Penguin colony and Harold Porter National Botanical Gardens. The town was named after Betty Youlden, daughter of the property developer who together with Harold Porter and Jack Calrence bought up farms in the area in the 1930's and formed a consortium that laid out the settlements of Betty's Bay, Rooi Els and Pringle Bay. The main beach is the most popular with tourists, bathing is safe and this is a hotspot for both surfers and anglers.
