Berlin

The local area

As one of Europe's most laidback cities, the site of some of the most important historical events of the 20th century, and an incomparable centre for art and creativity, Berlin is a trendsetting, fascinating place. The nightlife here is famous and comes in every form imaginable, from cabaret, to techno clubs and sophisticated cocktail bars.

There's also plenty to interest those who prefer a more relaxing break. Its history is like nowhere else and there's something to intrigue and enchant everyone in Germany's most cosmopolitan city; all on your doorstep from our luxury apartment in the heart of Berlin.

The History of Berlin

Berlin has a particularly striking history. The most notable of course is the dividing of the city by the Berlin Wall. You only need to look back a few decades here to find the mementos of truly world-changing events. While totalitarianism is an undeniably part of history, Berlin's past isn't entirely defined by this. The city is home to luxurious Prussian palaces, echoes of the golden twenties and world-standard museums all adding their own strands to this city's rich heritage.

To explore Berlin is to experience a city that shaped and influenced extraordinary individuals from Albert Einstein to David Bowie. Here, a tumultuous past has formed a place that's characterized by creative vibrancy, uniqueness and acceptance.

Things to See and Do in Berlin

With a punk-like sensibility that led the city to wear its originality and inventiveness on it's sleeve, you don't have to head to the city's museums (although, of course, they are well worth a visit) to experience Berlin's cultural and artistic heritage. You can spend many fascinating hours here in self guided "urban exploration", taking in the street art or wandering around the Spreepark, an abandoned amusement park that's being slowly swallowed by the woods.

Berlin also has a full and vibrant festival calendar, with the Berlinale Film Festival letting you cosy up indoors during the winter and the Karneval der Kulturen taking you outside for a street party in late May.

Our luxury apartment in the city centre is the perfect home away from home, and the ideal location to explore the cultural sights and sounds of Berlin. There's the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag building and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and if you want to escape the city Grunewald forest is easily accessible. For something a little different, Tempelhofer Freiheit Park is a former airfield that's been transformed into a park where you can go kite boarding or simply relax in the sun.

Food and Drink in Berlin

There's few better places than Germany for beer lovers and with microbreweries and Biergartens dotted throughout the city, Berlin will please even the most discerning fan. With high-end restaurants and examples of varied international cuisine that you'd expect from any major city, Berlin is also a great place to indulge a passion for food. There's plenty of traditional dishes you can try in your explorations of the city. Arguing with Hamburg over who is its true inventor, Berlin holds the famous currywurst in high affection, along with wiener schnitzel, German donuts and the döner kebab.
Or if you prefer a quiet night in, our luxury apartment is the perfect location to relax and unwind after a busy day.
