Sotogrande

The local area

Considered one of the most luxurious and prestigious resorts in southern Europe, Sotogrande adorns the land between the Mediterranean sea and the foothills of Sierra Almenara, in the evocative and irresistible Andalucían region of Spain.

The views across the Rock of Gibraltar and Morocco are stunning, giving a real sense of place to the Sotogrande resort. With natural beauty and unique culture of Andalucía enriching the sumptuous surroundings, our luxury villa in Sotogrande has access to all the amenities you could imagine, including five beautiful golf courses, riding stables, a vibrant marina and tennis clubs. It is also the perfect place to relax and unwind, a true home away from home.

The History of Sotogrande

Andalucía's distinct and striking heritage has been formed by its place between two faiths and cultures, Christianity and Islam, which over the centuries have sought dominance, merged, and exchanged characteristics with each other.

The Moors made the region their home for over eight centuries, building magnificent mosques (which have since been transformed into churches) and luxurious palace complexes, beautifully patterned with repeated motifs and intricate arches. Our luxury villa in Sotogrande is the perfect place from which to explore the exquisite historical sights of Andalucía, from the Alhambra to cave art in Almeria, Granada and Jaen.

What to See and Do in Sotogrande

When staying in this elegant and appealing resort, you can simply relax and unwind from the comfort of the luxury villa, or choose one of the many excellent sporting facilities available. The River Guadiaro and Estuary is the only marshland on this coast and is a designated National Park, with a bird watching hide looking over the lagoon. Twenty per cent of Andalucían land is natural and national parks, where nature lovers can spot the Iberian lynx and ibex.

Here you can immerse yourself in the spirit of Andalucía, the notion of duende which permeates Spanish art (loosely translated as a moment of heightened emotional experienced during an artistic performance) and can be felt in theatre, painting and flamenco.

Food and Drink in Sotogrande

Andalucían gastronomy is embellished with North African spices, full of the beautiful seafood of the Mediterranean and Atlantic (including red tuna, sea bass, anchovies, shellfish and sardines) and doused in garlic and olive oil. Tapas is an important part of the food culture here, and in some bars you can still get free tapas with every drink you order. Simple and delicious, the food of Andalucía is bound to become a key part of your Sotogrande experience, and you should make sure to try the gambas pil pil, jamon serrano, pringa and churros.

Or if you prefer a quiet night in, our luxury villa is the perfect location to relax and unwind after a busy day.
