What's on this Christmas - Prague

The bohemian city of Prague is consistently voted one of the best cities to visit in the entire world. With its gothic skyline, striking architecture, and charming cobbled streets, it's easy to see why.

As cold weather descends on the city and a dusting of snow coats St. Charles Bridge and Old Town's church spires, Prague transforms into a winter wonderland. With some of Europe's best Christmas markets, you can succumb to trdelník (fried dough) and mulled wine and soak in the magical ambience.

In the shadow of Prague Castle, Malá Strana is perfectly positioned to explore the Czech capital on foot. Here's your guide to a couple of our favourite goings-on in the city this year.

Christmas Markets

Old Town Square

From the spire-studded skyline to the sound of a choir singing carols, the sizzling street food stalls to the striking trees that twinkle around you, Old Town Square Market is a whimsical wonderland. The most impressive sight of all is the mighty 24m Christmas tree that is erected there, felled in the Liberec region of Czechia and transported to town. Open 2nd December - 6th January, it is a wonderful place to while away a day, and even more enchanting by night.

Prague Castle

Prague Castle is the largest castle complex in the world. It holds a lovely market, from 2nd December - 6th January, in front of the Basilica. Enjoy unrivalled views while you sip on a warming punch.

Wenceslas Square

Watch the blacksmith craft creations and dazzling light displays, browse quaint artisan stalls, and soak in the festive merriment at the modestly sized, immodestly beautiful, Wenceslas Square.

Extra-special Experiences

The Best of Swan Lake - The Hybernia Theatre

A ballet of beauty, world-class dancers and performers come together for a magical, immersive show that will take your breath away. The Swan Lake Experience brings fairy tales to life.
