Bormes-les-Mimosas: Provence’s Charming Gem
Wander Winding Streets and Enjoy Local Cheer
A beautiful Medieval town which could very well be how a lot of people envision Provence. From a distance, the settlement stands out thanks to its dusty-pink roofed houses clustered on the mountain, but a lot of the local charms become apparent simply by walking about the town: Winding cobbled streets twist in a labyrinthian fashion through archways and past homes with pastel window frames. Potted flowers are everywhere and many of the houses have climbing plants growing up their sides. There are beautiful local churches, sparkling fountains and local shops with jaunty bunting and awning. The town radiates cheer. To top it all off Bormes les Mimosas gets its name from its abundance of Mimosa flora- a festival is held during the blooming period of February each year. Visit the town on a sunny afternoon and spend a couple of hours wandering through its streets or taking in the view from a local café.
