Exotic Insects and Free-Roaming Wildlife
Butterfly World is the largest butterfly park in South Africa. Located on the crossroads of Paarl, Stellenbosch and Wellington, it is well worth dropping in for a visit. There is a beautiful indoor garden where butterflies and butterfly-friendly birds fly freely around you, and also a spider room, which is home to many indigenous and exotic spiders and scorpions. Butterfly pupae is introduced to the park throughout the year, with specimens coming in from places such as China, Malaysia, Costa Rica and the Philippines. There is also an outdoor garden at Butterfly World, where you will find a meerkat enclosure, an aviary and free-range ducks, chickens and goats wandering about. Children can buy seed and goat food from the gift shop to hand feed the birds and goats. Refreshments are also available from the restaurant on site.
