Africa's Most Beautiful Garden
Widely celebrated as the most beautiful Garden in Africa, the Great Botanic Gardens has one of the most spectacular views in the world. Set against the Eastern slopes of Table Montain, Kirstenbosch was establish to promote, conserve and display the extraordinarily rich and diverse flora of South Africa. Kirstenbosch is part of a nature reserve, the 36 hectare garden is part of a 528 hectare estate that contains protected mountains side supporting natural forest and fynbos along with a variety of animals and birds. This region was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014, and is the first botanic garden in the world to be included within a natural World Heritage Site.
Garden opening times:
The garden is open every day from 08h00 to 19h00 during summer (Sep-Mar), 08h00 to 18h00 during winter (Apr-Aug).
The Conservatory is open every day from 09h00 to 17h00.
The Curator's Office is open Monday to Friday only, from 07h30-16h20, except on public holidays.
